Project Cycle Development

The development of a new project goes through a cyclical process, each component potentially contributing to project impact and each fraught with its own set of challenges.

We specialize in working with donors, INGOs and implementing NGOs in strategically developing each stage of the process to maximize mission-driven project impact.

The links below provide information on the different sequential components. For information on particpating with the Center in this strategic process, please feel free to contact the Center.

Project and Proposal Development. demonstrates the process of engaging with beneficiaries and donors to develop ownership, sustainability and impact into projects. This page shows the steps an NGO takes to design, fund, manage, assess and report on projects.
Participatory Need: Community Ownership and Impact. Good project development begins with a community based participatory needs assessment. If they voice their needs and participate in the decision making process for solutions, the project will have greater likelihood of sustainability.

Project Design: Designing Impact-Oriented Projects. Discover how to design a project and how to group basic building-block activities into comprehensive programs that meet your objectives.

Project Funding: Donors/Partnerships. How can we make our proposals more attractive to donors? Encouraging donor input into project design forges partnerships and ownership.
Logframes, Budgets and Schedules. The Architecture of Project Design and Presentation. The Logical Framework is a powerful tool that aids in project planning, budgeting, project management, and monitoring and evaluation for assessing impact.
Organizational Strengthening. It's important for NGO staff to establish an organizational vision, explore what is having impact in their programming, and assemble a step-by-step strategic action plans for improving activities that need fine tuning.
Project Management. Getting organized for project start-up: A hands-on checklist. The narrative proposal, the logframe, the schedule, and the budget will each provide you with their own unique level of management information.

Impact Assessments. Donors have been showing interest in including both negative and positive outcomes in a more open dialogue with their partners. This represents a positive step toward allocating time and resources toward impact oriented projects.

Reporting. If your donors have their hearts warmed and feel that you captured the essence of their mission in your project report, you will have a greater likelihood of maintaining a partnership with them over the long-term.
